The Ultimate Alternative When One Chooses Lust Over Love

The Ultimate Alternative:
When One Chooses Lust Over Love
by Richard Watkins

Ever wonder why so many relationships, even those that begin on a healthy note, ultimately end in turmoil? One of the most common reasons is people choosing lust over love, and this happens far more often than most of us realize. The Ultimate Alternative: When One Chooses Lust Over Love examines the myriad of reasons why people make such a disastrous choice and end up ruining what could have been a healthy relationship. This story identifies and forces the reader to think seriously about the most important elements in a relationship and the rewards for making the right choices as well as the consequences of making the wrong ones.

“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding. “
--- Proverbs 3:13

My thoughts ...

Recently, I read a refreshing Christian romance novel called “Bittersweet Memories” by Cecelia Dowdy. Well, this book is nothing in comparison to her modest writings.

What am I talking about?
Well, I don’t want to reveal the tasty tidbits from this book, but I must warn you that it is filled with lots of SEX, drinking, and bad relationships! Did I mention SEX? I truly feel that the author elaborated way too much about the romantic details with the sexual relations of the characters in his book. I also learned more than I cared to know about all the variety of alcoholic drinks that you can partake in, if a person so chooses.

The book was a fast and easy read with the exception of the bothersome cursing and sexual conduct of the main characters. I feel I was blushing throughout most of this book and would not recommend it to anyone under the age of 18, er…Preferably 21 in my opinion.

I would seriously consider rewriting this book and omitting most of the explicit and arousing details of the sexual encounters. I mean we didn’t have to know every single feeling and sensation surging through the fornicators at their time of AHEMing. I believe that sex is a gift from God for married people and that we don’t have to know every special “event” and detail that occurs during its intercourse. We know what sex is, we don’t have to have a step-to-step guide!

Well, other than my negation, my pro for this book is that the author writes very well and is quite descriptive in explaining the background and objects in rooms, so on so forth. There is also repentance as is expected in it being Christian, but that doesn’t, in my opinion, justify the detailed sexual encounters. I was able to relax once I got to the final chapter. I believe that was the best chapter that reflected a Christ-like attitude.

I also commend him on the naming of the title, it‘s plotline is exactly so. I expected something entirely different from it, haha. I thought it was going to be a self-help guide. This book is not for the bashful at heart and if you like lust-filled storylines devoid of romance, this book is for you.
